FAQ's

Why should I have my wedding documented on video?
There are those special moments that cannot be captured with still photographs. Although photographs are a great way to remember that special day, watching your wedding day year after year is something that your family will thank you for. When you combine innovative camera work with the finest digital quality available, the result is spectacular picture quality and sound. There is just no better way to create lasting memories of that special day.

Why use a professional videographer?
Although uncle Joe can tape it for free, is it worth the risk of having a video where you can't hear your vows and have motion sickness from uncle Joe's unsteady hand? Professional videographers have mastered the latest videography techniques and take pride in their work. In addition, consumer camcorders are no match for our sophisticated equipment. (Our 3-chip cameras, for example, allow us to shoot videotape in surroundings with very little light.) Additionally, all of our wedding shoots are edited and produced with state-of-the-art, digital professional editing equipment worth thousands of dollars.

How do I know which videographer is right for me?
It is important that your videographer is detail-oriented, communicates well, and is committed to finding creative ways to tell a story that represents your day. We strive in being the most professional videographers in the business!

What's the difference between 2 and 1 videographers?
Our two videographer package simply provides us with more footage, more angles, and time coverage for your wedding day. We can weave together footage caught separately and simultaneously, that couldn't happen otherwise with only one videographer and camera.

Where will the cameras be during the ceremony?
Every wedding is different, and each one presents many possibilities for camera placement. Some people prefer the videographer to be up-close and in front, while others want us to be elsewhere. We can offer suggestions (usually at your rehearsal) and let you decide what suits you best.

What will your presence be like at our wedding ceremony?
We do not use lights, cables, or other cumbersome equipment. We'll be able to record the highlights of your wedding without intruding, in any way, on you or your guests.

Do you interview guests?
Interviews with family and friends are great for adding emotion and laughter to your video. If you decide to feature interviews, you can count on us to conduct them skillfully and bring out great responses from your guests.

How do you work with photographers?
Photographers work on tight schedules and cannot afford costly delays or interruptions. Our goal is to capture your day without slowing down your photo sessions. As professionals, we are trained to find compelling video from many angles; and at the same time, we also consider where your photographer would like to be. We give most of the control to the photographer for placement and poses. Additionally, we capture most, if not all of our footage without you even knowing we were there. If you would like special poses or scenes for your video, we will be more than accommodating to fulfill your requests.

How long will our finished video be?
The length of your video will depend on the options you select in your package and the length of your ceremony. Generally our finished productions range anywhere from one to two hours.

How soon before our wedding should we get in touch with Hamon Video Productions?
Please reserve our services about six months to a year in advance. HOWEVER, even if your wedding doesn't fit within that timeframe, please go ahead and contact us – you never know when we might have an opening.

Why should I hire a professional when my uncle can tape it for free?
Consumer (and even low-end inexpensive "pro") videos fail due to poor audio, inadequate planning and coordination to blend with the flow of the event, use of only one camera, shaky images, and insufficient battery capacity. Like photography, simple videos done by the guests are a nice adjunct to, but no substitute for, the professional video. There is no substitute for a professional who comes prepared with the right knowledge and equipment, respects the rules of your ceremony, and is focused on creating your video and is not there to "party."

Can I get my video put on DVD?
Yes! Our state-of-the-art, industry-standard equipment allows for any type of production to be placed onto DVD. We also have the capability to create customized menus and graphics especially for your wedding video!

Why is DVD better than VHS?
When placing projects such as photos to video onto DVD, there is virtually zero signal loss because of the digital to digital transfer from the computer workstation to the disc itself. Meaning, there is virtually no loss of picture, sound, or any hint of hiss, grain, or static in the final product. When a project is placed onto VHS, the digital signal must be down converted to analog and signal loss becomes apparent.
